TESTIMONY

"I refused to waiver in my faith" - Sis. Kamala

Dr. Kamala Subhashini is a dermatologist, working in a Medical College. Life as a doctor, lecturer and a mother was busy and eventful. But things had to change when a paralyzing accident robbed all the zest of her life.

Day of the Accident

On Feb 9th 2006,  Dr. Kamala met with a major accident.  She was immediately rushed to the ICU.
The diagnosis: Ischemic Cerebro-vascular accident with right Hemiplegia and Dysarthria. Due to the obstruction of blood supply in the blood vessels of her brain, the whole of the right side of her body was paralyzed. Paralysis struck the right side of her mouth, right hand and right leg, causing slurring of speech and impaired mobility.

Life stood still

She had no risk factors or any past illness to be prone for such an attack. The CT scan on the day of the accident showed a normal study. But the MRI and MRA taken on 18th February, almost a week later, showed acute impact in the left MCA territory. She was discharged on 26th Feb and was advised to follow physiotherapy. Life stood still for the busy doctor. She had to close down her clinic. She postponed her MD Pharmacology exams, as she could not write with her right hand. Daily chores of a woman were extremely difficult and painful for her. Slurring of speech, limping and loss of memory worsened her affliction.

Ray of Hope

On 12th March, the Spirit of God led her to River Life Worship Centre. As she recollects, "I entered the church with no movement in the upper limb and I had slurring of speech. I had to use a knee brace to stabilize my right knee as I had a very bad gait". As she began to hear the Word, she was assured of restoration. She continued physiotherapy, but there was little change in her condition. The doctors gave up hope and advised her to go to Delhi, for further treatment.

Healed by faith

She trusted the Lord and was regularly attending the Sunday services, Wednesday spiritual growth programs and the Friday healing services. She joined a cell group and began to take the Word of God As she began to work with the Word, a slow but steady change appeared in the paralyzed parts of her body. She discontinued physiotherapy and started exercising her faith. In every service, she noticed that one by one, each part of her paralyzed body slowly regained movement.
She recalls, "In one of the healing services, the Lord touched me and I was able to raise my upper limb, I was able to extend my fingers without any help or support." Her recovery speeded up and she began to perform her every day activities with much ease. Now she is able to write with her right hand and can walk without knee braces.

His healing package

The healing of God is taking place step by step with Dr. Kamala. She re-opened her clinic and is back to her teaching profession. She will be writing her MD Pharmacology exams shortly. She continues in faith and says, "As doctors we may be limited. But with God all things are possible. Now I am in the healing process and am confident that He is faithful to complete it."
