In 1996, when she was 13, she experienced acute pain in her left knee joint. Basing
on the symptoms, the doctors diagnosed it as Rheumatoid Arthritis. She was advised
not to exert herself and to take bed rest. Not knowing about the disease, she believed
that she would be cured by the medicines and rest.
Years of suffering
Life came to a halt for a vibrant 13 year old girl. She could
not play or live life like her other friends did. She suffered severe back and neck
pains, could not even stand or sit for long and walked with great difficulty. Years
passed and there was no improvement. Clinical investigations showed no abnormalities
and yet no amount of medication, no form of treatment reduced her pain.
Hoping to find a cure, her parents tried many doctors and various treatments. But
her condition was only changing from bad to worse. By the time she was 18, pain
and immobility hit every joint in her body. She could not do any day-to-day activity
on her own. As her education was also disrupted, she was left with no hope.
Knowing God
Amulya's mother was a devout Christian. But she and her father were atheists. As
an atheist, she believed that God does not exist. But despair drove her to find
an answer. One day, out of sheer desperation, she sought the Lord. She held her
mother's Bible and asked God if He existed and if He had the power to heal her.
She wanted God to answer her. And God spoke to her from Jeremiah 30: 12-17. The
Word of God spoke hope and deliverance to her desolate soul. And the 17th verse
"For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds,' says the Lord" changed
her life forever. That was her moment of knowing God. From then on she began reading
the Word of God and believed in the promises of God.
Holding on to God
After finishing graduation, she secured admission in the University of Hyderabad
for Masters in English Literature. The higher education, which she thought was impossible,
was made possible through God. As she moved to Hyderabad, her health improved and
the immobility came down. But the moment she was back to her home town, arthritis
flared up again. The disease was mysterious enough and this just added to the mystery.
By August 2005, her health became worse as she was struck with various illnesses.
But she was tenaciously clinging to God's promise of healing.
God's healing moment
Her parents were introduced to River Life Worship Centre during June 2005. They
saw great healings taking place and believed that their daughter would also be healed.
On Oct. 07th 2005, her parents brought her to the church for the Friday Healing
Service. As she testifies, "I came with a severe pain in my left wrist and I could
not move it. As soon as I entered the church I felt God's presence and said, LORD
here I am and here to be healed. During the service, the Pastor announced that some
of us received healing. As I checked myself, I could move my wrist with out any
pain. GOD HEALED ME!!!" It took one healing service for God to release her from
10 years of pain and suffering.
Life restored
Now she says, "I am completely free from all the pain in the joints. From the day
I received healing I stopped all medication for arthritis. I am able to run now,
and this is something I thought I would never be able to do in my life again". The
joy of her family knows no bounds.
